I just recently purchased This memory from Newegg. I originally only had 1.5 GB (2x 512 (PC3200) and 2x 256(PC2700)). I took out the 2x 256 modules and inserted the new ones. I logged into windows and it is only showing up as 2 GB when there should be 3. I have it set up correctly in dual channel. I haven't had time to take the sticks out and reset them because I just got home, but when I can, I'll try that. (Probably in about 45 minutes).

I hope you guys have some useful info for me.
Mobo is in sig.

Will do. I still can't do that for about another 20 minutes. (I'm involved in something online right now).

Well, I wasn't too sure what I was looking for. I checked CPU-Z and it's registering the 4 slots. It all says dual channel and has all the sticks under slots 1-4, but I'm still only seeing 2.0 GB. I'm going to try a stick reset.

I know about not registering 4GB. I pulled out the two 512 sticks. the 2-1GB sticks showed up fine. I added one 512 stick and got 2.5GB. I just now added the second 512 stick and am again only getting 2GB of physical memory. Maybe I should try switching what slots the 1 GB ones are in. I'll be back and let you know.

Well I swapped the slots and I'm still only getting 2 GB. I got 2.5 earlier with only one of the 512 and both of the 1 GB sticks. I'm thinking my computer won't detect 3 GB's of memory. This is very disappointing. I'm starting to think that my PSU is not strong enough. It's only 450 watts (Maybe less).

Memory Remapping was already disabled. I enabled it just to see what would happen. It actually bumped me up to 2.75GB of total physical memory, though it's still not the total 3 GB that I actually have.

I'm just going to leave it for the moment, though I would appreciate any other ideas you may have. I'll try them in the morning. Thanks.

i wonder if for some reason your gfx card is using some system ram?

just a thought?

That would be odd because my gfx card has 512 mb of it's own memory. I guess that could be the issue.

I have 3, 1GB sticks and 32 bit Vista and XP both say I only have 2.75GB available. When my PC posts though, it says I have 3GB installed. It seems 2.75GB is the most 32 bit operating systems are able to work with.

Well I know they don't always use all 4 GB, but I would have thought it could have at least used 3.5 GB.

Maybe I should upgrade to XP Pro 64-bit :D
