adding 9800 gtx and psu

got an even better alt to the 9800 gtx. the bfg gts 250. its the successor to the 9800 and is one inch smaller and only requires one power connector. i read a 10 page review and it beat out the 9800

The GTS 250 is a 9800GTX+ renamed. If your going to get one get the GTS 250. As time went on the yields got better on the core, so the reduction of one of the 6 pin PCIe power connectors. Really some of the later 9800GTX+ only had one. Just check how long the cards is. Not all the GTS 250 are shorter.

ok cool i will go with the gts250. i checked and the one i want is about an inch shorter than the 9800. will this and a good cpu greatly increase my gaming experience? i dont want to see small gains.

i currently have the integrated graphics that came with the 4200-09 desktop. but hey it aint so bad it plays doom 3 on high with the occasional stutter.

im buyin a 9800 gtx and 750 watt psu for the gateway 4200-09 i just bought. how do i know they will fit? thanks

you could go for a GTS 250. It is exactly the same card as the 9800 GTX except it is an inch shorter, only uses one 6-pin power adapter, and I believe it runs cooler.

I was able to find it for around $40 less than a 9800 GTX. It should be arriving any day now.

ya thats what i will do. i found it for 130 shipped iirc. then ill go with that 650tx psu. after that ill upgrade my mobo and cpu if i feel the need to.

i went ahead and ordered a corsair vx550 watt psu and sparkle 1gig gts250 card based on reviews and so on. itll be here tuesday so ill let everyone know what happens. thanks for all thw help.

got it all intalled with the latest drivers and man what a difference!!! playin doom 3 with every single setting maxed including antialiasing and it runs no less than 70fps at anytime. gpu is amazing!
