hey i currently have 1 gig of dual channel RAM (512 x 2) and i just bought another single stick of 1 gig. the thing is the single stick is faster than the 2 512 sticks. what i would like to know is does it matter which slots i put the ram in? like do certain slots get used first and then the others get used, because if thats the case i want the faster stick to be used primarily...for obvious reasons. or should i just stick it anywhere and it will be fine?

When planning to upgrade the memory there you would have been better to go for a pair of 1gb dimms at the fastest speed supported. The new 1gb dimm might see problem depending type and timings. Otherwise the often seen recommendation would be to install that in the first slot for the A channel being the faster memory. It will still run at the slower memory's speed however.
