adding memory! Please help!

I'm just starting to get into computers and I think there awesome. I hope to learn alot here.

Anyways. I have a somewhat five year old PC and I want to add 512MB of RAM to the stock 256MB of RAM. Will my motherboard, being so old, handle the added memory?

I hope to find that out. When you open up the computer, does it say what kind it is right on the motherboard?

Download CPU-Z, and after you open it click on the "Mainboard" tab. It will display your motherboard information.

I downloaded that CPU-Z (thanx) and my mother board is a ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Model P4S-LA.

Alright I was just searching and found that your motherboard can handle up to 2 gigs of PC2100 ram. So to answer your question, yes, it should be able to support another 512mb. I assume the original 256mb is one stick, because your mobo only has 2 DIMM sockets.
