Adding more monitors

So I want to do this

http://www.ubergizmo.com/2006/02/dell-3007wfp-30-inch-lcd-monitor-review/

I am having a bit of trouble finding the right monitor. I want to find the updated version of the 2001FP that is in the picture. So far it looks like the 2007fpb is going to be my winner, but I was hoping that other users might be able to confirm that for me

I did find these for sale

Also I know that the 560TIs that I am using have a max display of 2560x1600. Is that for each DVI port or is that for the whole card? Would I connect the other 2 displays to the 2nd 560 or do I need an adapter for the mini hdmi?

gaming across all of the screens is not really the focus (but would be nice) I mainly use it for more getting work things done at home.

I didn't read your whole post but here's my two cents...I HATE PUTTING A MONITOR UP AND DOWN INSTEAD OF THE LONG WAY! It's a massive waste of monitor space in my opinion...why would you reduce your monitor from being 20 inches long, to being 8 inches long? super stupid...that being said, if you aren't running massively intensive items on one of the screens I used an external video card (like $50 off amazon) and was able to get a good picture towards a third monitor off of my laptop. idk if you're running a tower or what, it was a real quick glance :P i've heard that the Saphire G-cards are really good thogh :P

if you have two cards, use two cards...my card doesn't display very large but I was able to stretch one image across 3 monitors (something like 5000x6000 easily) and it was slighty cut off so it all depends on the image you use and the resolution you choose...I like a program called "Dual Monitor" it helps with dual monitor backgrounds and stuff

I got one of the 2007fpb monitors from work to test. It seems like a good fit if I really want to go through with it. I just need to figure out if I can get Linux drivers to play nice. I spend 90% of my time in Linux getting things done so if I can't use it there there really is no point for me to get it.

I take it you have never used a 1600 monitor. It is huge. I don't really need the lateral space. The center monitor takes care of that. I really just want the other monitors as a small addition to what I already have to have a few applications run when working or homework, or remoting into my work PC.

I have had a 32' monitor, a 29' monitor and a 65' monitor...I am never aiming for a larger monitor, the way I see, the higher the resolution the harder it is to read things lol...I'm fine with 1080p but I don't care for it really...I'm fine with a standard resolution monitor and laptop...idk what you mean by a 1600 monitor? but I don't feel that it's worth it to waste money on two monitors like that and set them up sideways...why not just buy two big monitors?...idk you do w/e you want...I don't use linux either so I couldn't tell you where to go there either...sounds like ur figuring it out well though

bigger resolution... more usable space. screen size means almost nothing if the resolution isn't there to support it.

I actually get annoyed when the resolution jams so much crap into a monitor...it doesn't matter how big the monitor is, if it's putting more on it, it's going to be harder to read stuff (I use mine for research a LOT and for video editing)....And because I video edit I prefer the 16:9 aspect ratio instead of 16:10 cuz it's more natural to my product. I do very VERY little to no gaming so I don't worry about that either anymore. I believe you just need to go for it and test out what you need to do. those monitors are a great price considering their original cost. I'm sure that you can pull him down to $140 if you buy both at the same time too. post pics of the final product

For laptop screens I agree with you. for Desktops I just like having more room to work with.

I did get it to work in Linux this morning. I still need to grab another monitor just to see if I can get 3 to work with different resolutions. If I can get those 3 to work then I will probably jump on it.

So here is the last problem. 3d surround will only work with 3 monitors that are the same resolution. When the 560s are in SLI I can use 3 displays, but they have to be configured in 3d surround. If I don't want to use 3d surround, I can only use 2 DVI adapters. So I can either disable SLI for the third monitor (what I have in Linux) or disable the 3rd monitor when in Windows.
