adding old ram into new computer

does ram brand, or specs must be same to add a extra ram?
what i mean is can pc4200 and pc3200 something ram work together?

Aslong as the pin count (and same type (DDR, DRR2 and so forth.)) is the same. If the RAM is to fast for your motherboar your mother board will slow down the RAM.

well im getting atholn 64 3700 so...guess it wont slow down

It will slow down to the speed of the slower RAM. The cpu doesn't control this.
