adding RAM

Hi,

I installed two new Ram to my computer, it shows on system info but when I right click on "my computer" icon it does not read it. how can I know that
the memories are working or not? the type matches to my existing ones.

512md/3200/400 exactly similar to what I have. window xp pro.
when I right click on my computer it shows 1 gb. but system reads 2054

So how much RAM did you add before? And you added 2 512MB sticks? What brand of computer is it?

I had 2-512 MB, I used belarc software and it said I can add two more 512.
my computer is customized. mother board is P5GPL, ASUSTEK computer

what operating system, mother board, and also is it ddr or ddr2 that you have and are you sure you installed the same kind?

mother board is ASUS P5GPL rev 1.xx, I had two corsair DDR 184 pin 400/pc3200 and add two the same. it shows 2048 MB at system info. but does not show on property of my computer.
OS is XP pro

Is your XP-Pro 34bit or 64bit. A 34bit has a limit cap on how much memory you can install.

First off, it's 32-bit. And 32-bit can see up to approx 3.5GB of RAM.

Do this. Reboot your computer and go into the BIOS. Look around in the settings and see if there is anything related to "Memory Remapping". If it is enabled, disable it. If it is disabled, enable it.

Also, do you have a dedicated GPU or on-board graphics?
