adding ram

You need to know exactly what kind of ram you have on your laptop and you need to see if you can add more ram to your laptop. It's possible that 1GB is the maximum ram you can have but it's also possible that you can add more. What kind of laptop do you have? :)

emachines E625...does that help?

I just checked it online and it says that the laptop comes with 2GB ram. You said you have only 1GB. Go to start menu and right click on "Computer" and left click on "Properties". There you should see how much ram you have on your laptop. If that's the right laptop on their website it says:

Up to 2 GB of DDR2 667 MHz memory, upgradeable
to 4 GB using two soDIMM modules

If you have any questions or you are not sure on something, just post them. :)

Thanks for your help.

My laptop is only 1gb hard drive...it's full up now and I want to add memory...in simple terms what do I need?

Are you saying that your hard drive is running out of space or you only have 1gb of memory. There is a difference. Go into "my computer" right click on the C drive and click on properties, what does it say for free space?

I'm assuming he means RAM. :)

Taking this into account and me not being very technically minded, what do I order and will I be able to do it myself?
