Adding second HD

Hello,

I have a HD I was to hook up to my PC to retrieve some old files. I dont want to boot off of it or anything, just be able to access the files. The drive i want to attatch is on Win XP, and the PC that im running is on 98 i believe.

Any help?

if you don't want to boot off it, then just format it.

Attach the HDD to your computer as a slave... don't format it or you'll lose your data.

If your setting the XP as a slave, win 98 won't recognise it as it's NTFS, i belive. So your a bit ****ed unless you want to upgrade to XP, and if im right, and the convert tool to change FAT32 to NTFS just buggers your H/D. Don't use it. I did, and i had to pay to get the data retreived.

boot to the one that has all the old files on it and burn all the files over to CD's then you can format the drive, then you'll be able to set it up as a slave and if you want to put the files back on the drive you will be able to, or you could just keep them on CD and you'll have more room for new data.
