Adding Second Master HDD and O/S

My computer is not working properly, too many issues to ask for help. So I
bought a new hard drive to put in as a master and run the other as a slave.
I have XP Pro on the old one with all apps etc on it. What I want to know is

if I install a new O/S on the new hard drive, will I have issues with the
O/S on the slave. Second will I be able to use all the apps on the slave or
will I have to reinstall them all to the Master?

After I install the new drive I want to get rid of the O/S on the slave can
you tell me how to do this. I can find answers if it is an upgrade from a
previous version but not as a standalone install.

Can you give me advise on the best way to tackle these issue please.

Firstly, if these issues include viruses they may be transferred to the new HDD. In this case, run a full virus scan ASAP. Secondly, if the issues are solely software based, you can just format the drive (once you've backed up everything) and reinstall Windows.

No, the computer will boot of the OS on the master drive.

You'll need to reinstall them, they will not be transfered automatically. The only other way would be to copy the entire contents of the old HDD over, but that would also copy your 'issues' over as well.

Well, the easiest way is just to delete the Windows folder, along with any applications (once you've copied any important data out of them). I'd probably copy the important files to your new drive, and then format the old one though.

Once you've got your OS installed on the first drive and you're in Windows, all you have to do is right click on it in My Computer and click Format.
