I just went to PC World - a computer shop and they told me you just can't put any piece of RAM into your computer. It has to be right type because the mother board has to be checked, they said if you put the wrong size or something of RAM into the computer it or the motherboard will over heat. Is this true? Or are they just tryig to make some money?

you can identify what kind of RAM you have by downloading and extracting CPUID. when youve done that, run CPU-Z and in the tab named "Memory" the DRAM frequency should show what your RAM speed is. it should be one of these... 266, 333, 400, 533, 667, 800, 1066, or 1333.
