additional 512mb ram, mixing brands?

i was wondering about getting an additional 512mb of ram but was wondering if its okay to mix bradn names

im not sure what brand of ram i have right now but chances are if im going through ebay im going to get a different brand.
is infineon any good?

The main problem that could easily come up is not simply going with a different brand but timings speed or type. You want to match the current memory but more importantly look over the board specifications to see what type and speed memory runs on it. Plus you won't see working results if you mix double dimms with single sided. What make and model board or prebuilt system are you running?
