Adobe flash will not install

Title says it all. When I try to install it on my computer, it says the installation has failed. Any thoughts?

Here's an uninstaller if ya had a previous install. http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/

Else try looking in Crogram files and delete the directory if anything is showing up there.

goto start / run and type %appdata%. delete all occurrences of it.
try installing again.

would my active X settings have anything to ddo with this? If so what should they be set to?
