red onion Member Mar 27, 2005 #3 CAT-5 is standard networking cable, capable of 100Mhz speeds. CAT-6 may go up to 400Mhz. If it is the same price as CAT-5, get the CAT-6; it will last longer into the future, especially if it is going into the walls.
