Advanced IP Scanner - Help!

Ok, so my father found lately program which is used by him to checking if my computer is turned on. I wish he wouldn't be able to do that, what can i do about it? Both computers are connected to LAN. Thanks in advance.

install a firewall on your computer to deny ICMP request

You don't need any special firewall to disable ICMP, but why don't you want your father to know whether the computer is on or off?

Just leave the computer on 24/7 so he will never know when you are on it or not .

simply just block it and if ur not carefull most lan if set up to share enable the other user to veiw your comp with out permisson

your dad's probably just looking at the homepage of the router and its telling him whos connected

just an addition... if you are using windows xp, you can disable the icmp incoming echo request (used for ping) at the control panel > network and internet connections > windows firewall. On the advance tab, click the icmp settings then disable the incoming echo request.
