advantages of PC vs. console gaming

Yea I should of lower the resolution in the cam. But when its build i mean what advantages will it have?

I hvan't read this whole thread, but IMO the biggest advantage is you can have higher reslutions on a PC. With High defination it's a lot closer now, but Pc's can still go higher.

The gaming systems that have come out in the last few years have been made more "user friendly" for pc users to run games sold on pc as well as the system they were made for. Many popular pc games are now found on PS2 or X-Box along with the other newer systems there. But for the most part they will run at one predetermined resolution and speed according to the system. With a pc you can kick up a storm running at the resolutions YOU choose if your hardware supports it. Meanwhile I got to check the mail.. not on PS2!

a lot of the time with games made for both pc and console the pc verisons are better as games for instance look at battlefield 2 one of the most popular online shooters for pc yet on the xbox it isnt nearly as good plus online gaming on a pc is much easier no subscirbtion fee or no extra hardware needed

In the screenshot contest thread you can find several from a large variety of pc games that clearly show which is "chioce" for graphics in the long run. While some pc games relay on the lesser older style graphics some shooters and action games can blast some well defined graphics at you. But X-Box doesn't have multiplayer servers does it? :P

The only advantage I can see in a Xbox360 or PS-any is that you can have multilayer on the same system, unlike having 2 or more PCs running in a game on LAN. Plus I think we All pretty much agree that computers is the ultimate gaming system. Right?

Some games have split screen. Not that many any more though.

I like computers because you can do a lot more then just game with them. I like the concept of a console because you can just pick it up and go to a friends house without any problems, but a computer is a little more work. Consoles can never have the potential of computers simply because technology in TVs hasnt really advanced enough for consoles to show a lot of detail, etc. They both are great in there own way however, it is just what you want to do as far as gaming.

On some systems you can easily setup a two player controller through the parallel or usually serial port. You can then have a two player game going on one screen depending on the game itself.

Advantages are only advantages if you consider them so.... For instance, there are many titles that are ONLY playable by console....

Would someone purchase a console just for a few games that can only be played by that console? YES!

Computers are great for games that REQUIRE expandability.... RTS, Shooters, MMOs.... all great... but there arent many other genres that computer games reign supreme over consoles...

If you own both, no need to worry though! :D
Only reason I could see trying to find advantages would be to Con someone into purchasing a comp over a console... good luck :P

The only and "Primary" reason for gaming consoles to have one specific advantage over pcs is they are "idiot proof"! :P after they are hooked up correctly. You simply throw a disk in and game away. On a pc you have to KNOW how to maintain it as well as moving the mouse around. That seems to be something that eludes many.

Whats a LAN Party?
A party where everyone brings their computer and plays games on a LAN. LAN=Local Area Network. LAN parties can also be held with consoles. I've been to a few Xbox LAN parties.

"SCOTTY! BEAM ME UP! WE'RE HAVING A LAN PARTY!" would be the thing needed to have a Lan party here with the distances between everybody! :P

i saw at circuit city that a computer was hooked up to a tv and sound system and two logitech controllers, and madden was on the screen. ive never done that before, but it can obviously be done... therefore, i can just bring my box and a few controllers... and my mouse and keyboard if need be... to someones house... and considering my case has a nice heavy duty handle on the top of it, i can carry it with one hand. sure its heavier, and probably twice as big, but its also much more advanced hardware, besides the whole xbox 360 has 3 cores thing, which isn't even necessary at this point... i could've just as easily used antec's super lanboy case, which everyone that reviews it says that its "too light." and its also a mini-ATX tower, meaning its closer to the dimensions of microATX but supports regular ATX sized motherboards.

as for xbox 360 running smooth for its specs, like the programmers can just program the games for it... they have battle for middle earth 2 released for the xbox 360, which i had beforehand and when my friend bought it, IT LAGGED! like really, they just didn't program it for the damn thing or what? not only that, but you couldn't play the war of the ring mode (which is basically like the board game risk if you've ever played, with a map of middle earth) and the war of the ring mode was like my favorite thing to do, though it would take quite some time... lol

I like computer games better for shooters and sports games on consoles, but the only bad thing about PC is that you have to upgrade so much if you want to play most of the same games that are out on video games sysyems and such

I like PC gaming because of how many games are out for PC. Plus, try playing RTS games with a controller, it's gay. Plus FPS games are SO much better on the PC. I also like consoles, because they seem to have better racing games, better RPG's, and they are SO easy to take somewhere. I mean, I have the slim PS2, it's just as easy to take that thing to a friends house as it is to take a book to a friends house.
