So my computer was shutting itself off while running and I didn't know why so I took it to the IT people at my college and they fired up the bios and they noticed that the CPU was running pretty hot. They figured either the thermal paste of the heatsink was going bad.
I bought a new Heatsink and installed it. My CPU is a 3.06ghz on an ASUS motherboard, socket type 478. Anyway, after installing the paste and the new heatsink, I am looking a the BIOS again and I let the computer level out.
It started at around 40 celcius and has since risen to and balanced out at about 49-52 celcius.
I really dont' know anything about what is appropriate or desirable in terms of CPU temp so does anybody know if I am looking good or bad in this instance?
