Advice for PC :)

Hi there, well Ive had this computer here for quite some time now and I´ve basically been using it for school and gaming and what not....but recently been having some major lagg problems(like 2 FPS in Dalaran with all graphics settings to the lowest...) with a game I´ve been playing called World of Warcraft WOTLK.... I have some pretty old parts in this computer....I basically have a few$ stashed away to upgrade. I was thinking maybe just upgrading my hardrive and more memory would probably help and as for the graphics card I know its not the best but i think it can handle the job.
Here are my specs:

Operating System: MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3

CPU: Intel Pentium 4
Northwood 0.13um Technology

RAM: 512MB Kingston DDR @ 132MHz 2.5-3-3-6

Motherboard: AV49 (Socket 478)
VIA PT800 (VT8754) Chipset

Graphics: 128MB Radeon 9250 (MSI)

Hard Drives: 40GB Seagate ST340016A (IDE)

Optical Drives: TDK DVDRW420N
SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-816B

Audio: C-Media PCI Audio Device

Now tell me something....Im really looking for something to give it that kick...
I want to be able to run freely with no lagg in Dalaran(place in W.o.W) and other Cities etc... I want to be able to play my game with no lagg basically im not a graphics type of guy i rather have my performance...Like I said im on a budget...Any parts/upgrades you guys can suggest please post below with link and price. Ty for your time, and any advice is appreciated.
 
You will need a new processor, meaning new mother board, meaning new ram, and you need a new video card. Also, probably a new PSU.

What is your budget?
 
haha not much maybe 150$ at the most....lols so your saying if I were to upgrade to a bigger hardrive and like probably a good 2G of Ram it wouldnt help much? Can you give me some more explanation please :) i respect your advice but I just would like more info.thx How much do you think all of that stuff you recommend will cost? Well the specific parts you recommend as in cheap but worthy enough for gaming.

Hard drive, RAM, two difference things. :)

Basically, that processor is really old. You need something newer. For that, you are going to need a new motherboard. Also, you need new RAM, 2 reasons: the new motherboard wont support DDR, and 512 is not enough. 2GB would do it. Also, the video card is pretty old, so you need to get something new. And our power supply probably won't support the new graphics (video) card, so you need that new.

Here is a quick run-down on the cost. this is more or less off the top of my head:

Processor: $50, a dual core, probably around 1.8GHz.
Mobo: $30, low end motherboard
RAM: $30-40, 2GB DDR2
Video card - $30
PSU - $40 for something decent

So thats close to $150, but you will most likely hae to shell out a bit more. and my $30 quote for the video car is something used from ebay, or off the forums, here.

oh and your hard drive is fine :)
 
Don't upgrade it. At total it will cost 4x much...

If I were you, I'd save up for around $700 and buy a new PC
 
right mate, basically, get a decent job, save up yeah and buy some decent parts. Get something along the same lines as what ive got maybe. LIKE.
 
Ok what do you guys think of this upgrade?'?? you think it will give me the power to run World of Warcraft at high settings with fairly no lagg??? oor its just an OK PC upgrade?

Don't forget to also purchase a good quality 500 Watt power supply. I don't know if World of Warcraft will be able to be run at maximum settings with that system, but it should be able to run it at decent settings.

I kinda disagree with most of you guys above. Playing wow in my experience i got a similar system atm but with 1.5 gb ddr2 ram and a geforce 6200 vid card and i can get about 10 fps at a closer to medium setting in dalaran so my personal advice would be get up to 2gb ram which is cheap then maybe hit up a new processor and you should be fine.
