I just acquired a cyberpowerpc 2204
it has 4gb ram ddr3 1600 preinstalled, it says it takes a maximum of 16gb
2 memory slots total
memory capacity 4gb ddr3? < is this whats already in it? or what i can put in?

ok so basically thats all the data on it, i was just wanting to upgrade the ram to get it to run a lil faster for the time being until i feel comfortable enough to build my own since this is my first Owned computer.

If that is your specs, it has 1 x 4GB DDR 3 (1600) DIM installed and a total of 2 slots, with a maximum of 16GB compatibility. That means you can install another 4GB DIM to make 8GB, or remove the existing 4GB and install 2 x 8GB to get 16GB. This is all assuming you still have a 64bit OS that can take advantage of such ram.

Please download PC Wizard from my sig, install it, open it and go to FILE, SAVE AS, click OK and save the text file. Open it and copy the contents of that text file into this thread.

id just get another identicle 4gb stick. Upgrading from say 8gb-16gb makes minimal performance difference if any unless you need over 8gb RAM for photo rendering etc. You wouldnt come anywhere close to using 16gb on games etc.
