Advice on a new laptop

I need a laptop and software for very basic music editing. Specifically, just editing music to make it clean, nothing too serious. I teach dance and it's difficult to find clean versions of certain songs and I would like to be able to make music clean on my own.

BONUS: Basic video editing would be nice as well, but not essential....

I talked to someone at Microsoft and he said their new Surface or Surface Pro would get the job done. I just want to get the best bang for my buck so I figured I'd come here and ask for some help. I don't want a Mac. I not very inclined to Apple products, but to each his own. Any help is very appreciated!! Thank you.

Preferably, no more than $500, but if I need to go to about $600-$700 I can handle it. North American, currency is USD.

That Lenovo on Newegg looks like a really good deal. If I could get more specific though, I would like a 3 in 1 if possible (Laptop, tablet, stand(or whatever you would call the last one)). And will would any of these allow me to do the basic music editing I'm looking for?

A tablet hybrid running Windows has one major drawback. You can install most applications that you can install on a desktop, but most desktop applications don't function well on small touch screens. So when looking for a tablet hybrid a 12 inch or larger screen size is important. Below are some examples.

Asus Transformer Book

Acer Aspire Switch 12

Gotcha. So would Asus, Lenovo, or Acer be a better choice in your opinion and why? I just want to make sure I can do what I need to on whatever I choose to purchase.

Do you mean better than a Surface 3 Pro? The Surface 3 Pro is a good choice, but it is much more expensive. If I couldn't get a Surface 3 Pro then I would probably choose the Toshiba Click 2 Pro 13.3.

Gotcha. I'm really ok to go with whatever would be the best for my needs; be it a Surface, Toshiba, Asus, Acer, Lenovo, etc.... As long as it'll do what I need, I'll be happy. Do you know of any cheap (or free) software for basic music editing or would there be something pre-installed that could get the job done?

Great! Thank you for all of your help.... I like to ask a lot of questions before I make a decision, so I may have more later.. But thank you!
