Budget Build
All suggestions welcome!

I chose the 965 because they were priced the same.
I don't have the cash for that board:(

Edit:Looking for under $150 at least.

I havent got time to check the prices atm but if you cant wait until bulldozer you could look into one of the boards below as asus claim that through a bios update they will support AM3+ cpus

Crosshair IV Extreme, Crosshair IV Formula, M4A89TD PRO/USB3, M4A89TD PRO, M4A89GTD PRO/USB3, M4A89GTD PRO.

hey zachstan. i noticed that you have a gtx460 selected for your video card. if you think you might want to add another one in the future for sli, then you may want to consider this board:

its better than the one i have, but only in the vdrop department, and is truly a good board. i just got it a week or so ago and used it on a friends build and its rock solid. i know its a open box item, but its the only option for it right now. if you can find it somewhere else neww, then cool, but ive ordered open box before and it has always been fine. you can eventake a look at my board here:

good luck

I think I'll just watch the Newegg special sales and hopefully they put a good MB up for a good deal.

Most of this is speculation, all I've bought so far is my case and Processor.
I'm in no rush as there is no game coming out too soon(too my knowledge) that I'm excited about.

The one you choosen is OK, as you are not going to crossfire.
I don't see the point of getting 890FX chipset.
With the budget, probably 870 /880G chipset. ASRock 870 EXTREME3/ ASRock 880G EXTREME3 are good consider.

Still learning. What do you mean by bulldozer?

AMD is soon to release their new archietecture, hence meaning new cpus, the archietecture behind these chips is codenamed bulldozer. These chips are desgined for the new AM3+ socket and somehow asus is saying that they can make some of their AM3 boards compatible.
AMD have set a release date of q2 this year, I think I heard sometime in June to be more exact.

How much do you think these new processors would be selling for?
Also, would it bump down the current price of processors?

I read somewhere that they are getting rid of all the current names (Athlon, Phenom..etc)
And replacing them with something different.

The topend will be called the FX-8000/6000/4000 series and as of now, the first ones will be unlocked

Midrange will be the A series

Lowend wil be the E series.
