advice regarding antec 300 case and freezer 7 pro

hello, i am building a new system and i need some advice on a few things i am unsure about :

the case has one rear exaust fan, one top fan (PSU bottom mounted as opposed to top) and 1 front, and i have an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro (hate intel stock fans)

what fan configuration would be best? my idea is to have the freezer 7 pro pointing upward so it gets fresh air intake from the top fan + cools the chipset heatsink. and then have the front fan for intake and rear for exhaust. but i am unsure about this configuration.

another thing.. i got a foxconn p45a motherboard (low budget, critisize if you will) and it feels like the board is very thin and could be damaged easyly. is there any precautions i should take to prevent damage to the motherboard from this large predruding heatsink?

oh and the spec for my build is : wolfdale e8400, 2x2GB xms2 800mhz, p45a mobo, 500GB western digital, sapphire hd 3650 :D

thanks,

ross :)

I prefer using the rear for CPU exhaust since it goes with my air flow. Personal preference here.

A64 is not that heavy at all...I own the AMD version and while I detest push pins (due to them poping out and stuff) it will hardly hurt your board.

Now if you wanna see a TRULY heavy sink...look @ the Tuniq Tower 120...I have seen bending of the board with those.

neat trick to get them all the way in though is take a screw driver + a roll of tape put the hole in the middle of the tape and it allows you to force those suckers down while not breaking your board and make sure its secure and down.

What's up man?

Well I own both the Antec 300 and the AC7Pro hehe :D

The case has 2 fans on the front (intake) and the back and top fans are supposed to be for (exhaust). That's the configuration I'm using and so far it's been perfect ;) Place the CPU cooler facing the back so that it pulls air from the front and pushes it out the exhaust.

BTW, Foxconn is a pretty good brand. Just be careful and install the cooler before you mount the motherboard in the case or else it's gonna be a PITA! ;)

ahh cheers for the advice man, i take it ambient cooling alone is enough to keep the chipset heatsink cool then? i havent used a p45 chipset before, do they run hot?
