Hey guys/gals,

I recently bricked my Asus P5K SE motherboard. I replaced my BIOS chip but am now having trouble with my LAN connection. It will not read any connection. ( I have tried many things such as BIOS selections, checking connection, making sure i have the right chip, ect.) So now i am left with two options:

a) Get a PCI Network adaptor

b) Get a new LGA775 Motherboard

I still want to use this CPU (it seems a waste just to get rid of it), so i was wondering which would you choose? Also, what choice would you choose (meaning your selection of PCI Network adaptor/ Motherboard)?

I live in Canada, so keep that in mind :)

Hopefully you can help me make a choice.

I would just get a network card. That will be a lot more cost efficient than a new motherboard.

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166017 seems like a good deal.

Is it possible to get a network card with Bluetooth integrated? Or is that just with the wireless cards? Also, what do i look for in a network card? are they just all basic?

Funny you give me the newegg link. I am just looking to order new 3D glasses (broke my old one).

Buy a addon card, beats having to spend extra money on a EOL motherboard, save the money, get a socket 1155 chip, 8 gig ram and a i3 or i5...that is what i would do if i was going to change motherboards...

I'm actually in the middle of building a new computer. I just don't want this 775 go to waste. Thinking on selling it to a friend as well (or use as an extra computer). The low choice of motherboards, looks like the max i would spend to replace is $80. So price isn't an issue. Problem is buying a new motherboard that is better then the one i already have (don't see the point in downgrading).

Im not sure if you can find a ethernet card with bluetooth. when I searched it up on newegg the closest thing I found was a USB bluetooth adapter. They are cheap enough though.

and for newegg, thats what I always use for canada. I don't know any of you alls stores that much.

use a usb adapter for bluetooth, their cheap and are small for the most part, just stuff it in a back port and forget about it.

but yea, if you want a full featured 775 board, you will have to do ebay, since seems most of the 775 boards are lower end things...

^This. In my personal experience of looking for LGA775 motherboards, they are pretty overpriced. Network cards are really cheap. ;)
