Advice

i would get the dell, alienware is just WAY overpriced and dell has great support

with alienware you just pay for the name and fancy box etc

Well, the Alienware Aurora is an AMD 64 and the Dell XPS is an Intel P4 ... many people on this forum believe AMD is better for games. At base price, I would go for the Dell, but some of the custom config options on the Aurora are really nice, but before you know it your spending more than $4k...

You might want to go through and config both brands exactly to your liking... then post the specs of both and ask us to pick from there..

Build your own! It's more fun than buying one, and easier than you think, plus you can pick the parts you want and it's generally cheaper (or at leat the same price). But if you insist on buying, I'd go with the Alienware.

i agree that you should build your own...or get the alienware...i hate dells because they are to...uh...proprietary for my liking...and amd processors are the best for gamers since they are so easy to OC

I don't think anyone's really contradicting themselves. Dells are fine for some people but not others.

I have had two problems with Dell computers since 1998 and both times the customer and technical service was very good and each problem was resolved in a timely mannor.

As for cheap, they are pretty inexpensive for a manufatured computer, but you do pay extra for the Dell brand name and everything that goes along with it..

For many people on this forum, building (along with upgrading) the computer is part of the fun, and a major part, I might add. For these people, buying a Dell is almost sacreligious.. but that doesnt take away from a Dell or any other manufatured computer. Instead, it depends on YOUR reasons for purchasing a computer. It seems Name Taken does not want to build a computer, instead, the goal is to play games and Dell or Alienware is going to take care of that.

I agree with SFR. If you dont wanna try building a computer yourself either PC would work well, but I highly reccomend trying to build your own sometime. It's not that difficult, and if something doesn't work, you'll know better how to fix it.
