aeriel for extending wireless

Hi, I'm thinking about buying one of these aeriels to connect to my desktop to improve the connectivity to my wireless network at home, since the signal is too weak to pick up/connect to.

Can someone confirm that this aeriel is actually what I need, and whether they work as promised?

Well essentially its just an extra long wifi antenna, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have a friend with a similar antenna and it works fine.

It would be an improvement if the current antenna is attached to the USB/PCI card, but also make sure to get it high up and as close to the AP as possible. Don't expect miracles though.

Also where do I plug the antenna into my PC? I have a crappy wireless card but no ports on the back.

I can't see any RF ports or anything, and can't seem to unscrew the aeriel on the card.

They usually plug into the gold connector on the back of the card where the default antenna is.

If yours has an internal antenna or the external one doesn't come off, you will need to get a new wifi card.

It looks quite good with the extendable antenna. Are there any better cards with this feature you could recommend? I only need 802.11 b/g not n.
