Right now I have HD 5700. What better video card on either GeForce or ATI HD series should I buy so I won't be changing video card for the next few years, for new games. Please don't give me the best video cards just the good ones that you think.

I don't really know a lot about video card requirements, so what does a video card need to run in the computer. Should I have better what, like motherboard and processor or I can just put the video card in any computer that fits?

ATI HD 6950
Price is resonable, good for playing games
You can also flash the 6970's BIOS in order to upgrade your card for free

+1 for the 6950

There are however requirements to upgrading your card. The most important one, hands down (Besides having a PCI-E slot I guess, which you do.) is that you have a sufficient power supply. More powerful cards intuitively require more power to run stable, and without a sufficient power supply to back it, you will encounter instability and much, much worse. Other "requirements" are the rest of you system being sufficiently fast. There's no point in putting a $300 GPU in a 10 year old system. Your computer is only as fast as its slowest component. This is called a bottleneck, and would have to be upgraded first if you want to see any improvement from an upgrade.

About the power system, how do I know what's my computer has? And if I'm lacking power supply, do I need to upgrade or add power supply?

I just bought the computer 2 years ago with GeForce 9800 and change it to HD 5700, so do you think the specification would suffice 6950?
