After installing ubuntu on my pc?

Im considering firing up an old pc by loading ubuntu on it from a cd,can anyone tell me once its up and running how i can find the name of my disc drives and other component to download the drivers
 
If you use the newest version of ubuntu (provided your computer is older with relatively common hardware) it should have all of the drivers you need.
 
Yeah, it should have them, and if not, plug it into an ethernet port and it should update automatically.
