After-Market Heatsink?

I got an AMD Athalon 5600+ and I've been using the fan and heatsink that came with it. In PC Wizard 2007 it says the processor is running at 26*C and the cores are at 42 and 40 (not quite sure which one to go by). I've heard some stuff about after-market heatsinks, and so I want to know if my CPU is cool enough now, or if the extra coolness would be better. If it's not going to make any difference, I'd just rather to wait until I start water cooling and OCing and save the money.
If you have any suggestions for good CPU Fans and Heatsinks, I'd surely consider them. If the fan could have LED I would prefer blue.
 
Go by the "core" temps. on load you don't want it to go above 55*c. I bought the Zalman 9500 and my temps (cores) are now 27*c idle and about 43*c load.
 
It looks like you have overclocked the same PSU and RAM I have with that heatsink, and I don't see any type of water cooling. Would this fan/heatsink be enough, along with a few case fans (I don't notice any added case fans in yours as well), to OC to the level you have them at?

*Edit* Also, does all that blue light in your case come from your PSU alone? Or do you have other cathodes/LEDs?

LED fans and cathodes, psu you mean cpu, right? Motherboards are different i have mine overclocked at stock volts 100% stable. And those are my temps oc'ed, mine settings are...

Vcore: auto
FSB/HTT: 252
Multiplier: x13
HTT multiplier: x4
Ram: @ 2.05v
Sata spread spectrum: Disabled
 
Yeah, CPU not PSU, get the abbreviations mixed up.

I think I need to read the OCing 101 post... you lost me at "Stock volts 100% stable".

The mobo you have is much better than mine, so it would be able to support higher overclock?
 
Well it depends, alot of people say the nforce 590 is a better overclocker but theres only one way to find out :P. You may be able to get my clock stable on yours, just have to try and see..
 
I play games like BF2. I never really notice anything going very slow (except for my internet connection, which I don't have much control over). Other that gaining experience which I really would like, would I notice a large difference between OCed and Stock? I was going to wait to OC until the games I wanted to play didn't support my CPU and RAM, but if all it takes is a 3rd party heatsink and some balls, I may consider it.
 
I can notice a pretty big difference, everything from startup time to just regular computing..
Besides its clocked faster than a x2 6400+ :D
 
Just read up on the 101, up the fsb/htt a little at a time.. and you can try the settings i showed you. If you need help when you get ready just let us know.
 
Thanks. One last thing. Would the fact that I have a 520W PSU be holding me back from OCing at all? or is it a pretty good PSU?
 
Really the Zalman 9500 isn't that great compared to other coolers out there. Look into the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (the King of Air coolers)
 
Any HSF people can sand down. However, most high quality ones are flat enough that it doesn't make a big difference.
