After-Market Heatsink?

The ridges aren't as much of an issue as flatness. My 9500 has ridges, but it is flat. My Pentium D 820, however, was seriously concave. Now it is very flat as well as being very smooth :).

yeah, youve talked about water cooling alot...
you dont need watercooling to OC, (im ocing on stock...maybe thats why it fails so much...anyways...)

An aftermarket heatsink should do just fine.

Thatguy, did you get the 9500 LED or just the 9500? (Green or Blue LED). Because the LED version won't fit with the orange brace that is on my Gigabyte 570 SLI MoBo. What do I do?

I got the second one. It says it's compatible for: "All Dual Core AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPUs (Socket 939)". I was about to unscrew the orange thing on my mobo and put the other brackets in, but will that not work?

Um im not sure if it will, socket 939 is different than AM2. Did you try the 939 bracket just to see if it works? (the one than goes across the middle of the heatsink)

EDIT: call zalman, i bet they will send the AM2 bracket to go on the heatsink.

When you look at my Mobo:

You see the orange thing that surrounds the AM2 socket. I looked under the bars, and I saw little squares that might be an outline to screws. I was going to take my Mobo out and flip it around to see if I could remove the orange bracket, and put in the two black brackets that came with the cooler. If you don't think they will work with AMD processers or if it would be easier to exchange it to newegg, then tell me.

The bracket (939) fits on the heatsink, but there is no where to screw it in. It looks like I'll need the AM2 bracket. I'll call zalaman right now (cuz I would also prefer the blue LED to the green lol)

I realy don't know, i don't think they would work. And i think those are only mounting brackets not brackets you can put on the board. First call zalman and tell them your problem, and ask if they can send a AM2 bracket for that cooler. And if so, should it work? looks to me like the heatsink is the same just a different color and different brackets inculded. So im thinking if they send one like i have on mine if will work. So first email them or however their customer service is.

yeah i like blue over green too, but i made my case a kinda blue/green theme :P

K sent an email. I'm hoping I can get the bracket so I don't need to spend 6 days shipping back and fourth without a computer. I'll post when I get a reply.

*EDIT* Maybe I can scrounge the AM2 bracket from my old heatsink until another one comes. How dangerous is it running a CPU without thermal paste?

The AM2 brace from the old heatsink won't work, so I'll just have to use the old heatsink until I get an email back from zalaman.
Questions:
1) Would there be any other way to get an AM2 bracer?
2) I removed the thermal paste from the CPU but not from the bottom of the heatsink, do you think the stuff still on the heatsink would hold until then?

I would just send it back, have you cleaned the paste off the cpu? theres probably not enough left on it. If you realy want to, circuit city sells AS5 for i think its $10..

Edit: do they have the bracket at frozen cpu?

I'll send it back unless I can find the bracket soon. There is the 9700 for like 5 bucks more at newegg and it's blue LED and supports AM2. I'll probably just return the 9500LED and get the 9700LED.
Frozen CPU's phone times are 10-6, so it's too late tonight.
Do you know how hard it is to return stuff to newegg?
