After others opions on laptop errors

Just after others opinions on a laptop i'm working on.

Working on a friends laptop. Its a hp pavilion dv6-1207ax.

It would boot up then say boot device not found or bsod with 0x000000007b error before it got tot he splash screen.

I have taking the hard drive out and plugged into mine using a usbtosata adapter and taking any data off that was needed.

Know when i turn it on it will load fine and get to desktop but after 5 minutes or so it will either bsod with 0x00000000f4 error or else it will just restart. When this happens it will give the first two errors i had.

From what I've read and tests I've done i conclude the harddrive is failing. I can replace this and reinstall os etc.

My thoughts i'd like others opinions on is this - If I replace harddrive, could something else be faulty also and therefore still cause problems?

It is running windows vista, with 4gb of ram, and when i can get to that 5 minutes of desktop it does running slow as.

Would it just be better to get a new laptop for the long run or replace harddrive.

Why don't you run a disk diagnostic on the hard drive while it plugged in to a different system? Thats a sure way to tell if the drive is bad or not.

Didn't do that when i had it out. Will give that a go.

If it passes, would it be possible to work out what could be causing the problems then.

hard drive passed tests i throw at it. It a Fujitsu drive. so looks like harddrive might be ok. might be something else in laptop then.
