after Reformating Monitor dosent work

I just reformated my dell using the disk that came with it. After i finished my monitor got really messed up it will only display in 640x480 pixles and 4 bit color i have tryed to change it in the display properties menu but that dosent work at all. Any help would be great

what kind of video card do you have? or is it integrated? try downloading the display drivers from the web.
