After WIN7 can't install WINXP

I have asrock P4VM890 motherboard. I use SATA hard disk (SAMSUNG HD160JJ). In my computer was WINXP. Then I tried to install windows 7. My computer was to week for that system, so I decided to downgrade to WINXP again. But I couldn't. Something was wrong. I formated my hard disk, and then when windows should to install, my screen showed "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer...".



I read some forums. Some people had same problem as mine. They solved this problem when they turned AHCI to IDE in BIOS. But in my BIOS there isn't this function.

Maybe, someone know what can I do to install WINXP? I think it's motherboard fault (BIOS).

Reconnect the hard drive to another SATA slot and try again.

If nothing, try with a different hard drive (if you have one) or different motherobard (if you have one).

If you have neither, you can always try a cmos reset and try again

I tried that, but it is no worth. I tried to upgraded my BIOS, tried to reset CMOS, tried to use ATA hard disk, but nothing helps.. I still can't install Windows XP.
Strange thing is that Windows 7 works.... but not windows XP (Windows XP CD is good). I think problem is in BIOS or maybe in some drivers... I don't know..
 
Are you sure there isn't a setting to change sata mode in the bios? Cause it really sounds like thats what is going on. Can you tell us what computer you have or what motherboard you are using?
 
Sounds like you either need to change the Sata controllers to Native IDE mode in the bios or load you Sata drivers by floppy or if it doesnt Slipstream SP3 to your XP CD.
 
The BSOD that you are receiving is part of Windows, not the BIOS, so it looks like it attempts to load Windows but fails (obviously).

Just to start from the beginning again, can you get into the BIOS? Usually F2 or DEL. If you can, make sure the CD drive is set to boot first, load in the Windows XP CD and see if it prompts you to enter the setup. If not, try booting from the Windows 7 DVD, go through the first few steps until you get to the section to select the disk. Reformat your hard drive, and then turn off your computer and try booting from the XP CD again.

Also make sure that AHCI is not enabled, and you are using IDE/ATA/SATA mode instead.
