Aftermarket heatspreaders

Adding heatspreaders to ordinary RAM isn't going to help as much as buying RAM with heatspreaders. This is not because the aftermarket heatspreaders are inferior, but because the RAM with heatspreaders is generally higher quality. You're only likely to need the heatspreaders when overclocking, a situation where budget RAM (sold without heatspreaders), won't take well to anyway.

Having said that, if you are overclocking and significantly raising the VDimm on budget RAM, they can be useful, but only if you feel RAM temps are likely to be a problem.
