agp express

yeah

hrmmm one of my friends says agp express is out but i dont know if this is true or not so im gonna look into it furthermore thanks jet :)

Thats what it is and it sucks, some dont even run in AGP mode, they will run your card in PCI mode plus there limited on what models AGP cards that will even work!

From the looks of it, there's an AGP and PCI-express slot there. They probably just called it AGP-Express for a catchy name.

This is a feature exclusively found on ECS brand boards only. What this does is allow the use of a AGP card on the pci bus. It takes two pci slots and wires them together and runs at the pci not AGP bandwidth as a rule. Forget about a performance value there. Another thing to know is that not all AGP cards will work on it either. ECS has a compatability list for a limited amount of makes and models seen at http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Support/865-m7-2.aspx?MenuID=0&LanID=9

Let's say the "X" speed is slightly less rather than more then AGP 8x with those. Instead of manufacturing a board with both AGP and PCI-E slots available ECS simply took the "cheapie" way out by jerry rigging two pci slots so you wouldn't have to buy a new PCI-E card. Asrock apparently decided to take the low road as well there. No wonder I recommend Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, and even DFI or Abit over those "odd" brands. :P

ASROCK actually have motherboards with AGP 8x and PCI-Express 16x and both of 'em are actually running at full speed instead of having less performance on the AGP like some other mobo's have.
