AGP or PCI-E?

Which type of graphics card do you prefer?

there have been other posts like this, AGP supports the older and cheaper cards, which is good for people who dont game or do serious image/video editing, but PCI-E is best for gamers and professionals since it's faster (although the cards dont take full advantage of it yet), and the newer cards are being made only for PCI-E.
 
Older and cheaper? Maybe Older, but cheack the pirces of the SAME EXACT AGP and PIC-E card, PCI-ussaly actully cheaper.

I preffer whatever fits in my mobo :P.

Almost laughed when I read this ;). AGP is "Just" on its way out. the last gen cards are great for gamming. My AGP 6800GT plays all the latest games at the highest possible settings. Does it do this perfectly? well no but it's easily playable at highest settings. In my more recent library that would be games like Doom 3, Farcry, Half Life 2, Halo, Serious Sam II etc.

Oh yea cheaper? well yes cheaper your right :P. Although They are very expensive still so Cheap they are not.
 
I did a presentation in my communications class just this thursday. It was on installing a video card.

I explained why if you were to buy a video card today, you should go with AGP

1) It'll be like another year before your PCI-E card has to run at its max
2) 300 Bucks for a damn good top of the line video card (AGP), or 600 bucks for a mediocre PCI-E (still comparable though)
3) With the revisions AGP had, it's to be expected that PCI-E will have similar revisions and cards you buy today will be outdated (slot wise) in the future (so will agp, yet most people have AGP boards already, so no need to buy a new motherboard)

Of course if you want to have the power now, spend the money now, and now now now, then you should buy PCI-E cards...NOW

i mean by new technology that pci-e is better in games than AGP,
And for hyrdogen powered cars many don't use them, this is today, but in future all people will star to use hyrdogen powered cars :eek:
and for pci-e i see alot of people using it today and more will use it in future, and AGP cards will be in the trash can.

and please don't compare cars with computers :)

the PCI-E slot is faster, but PCI-E cards arnt any faster then an AGP card now. (they will be in the future).

No they are not. When your talking about single card use an 6800GT AGP is just as fast as the 6800GT PCI-Express card etc. The slot is not maxed on AGP you have to understand. In the future sure you'll start to notice a difference between AGP and PCI-E speeds but not today. I kinda wish more understood this before speaking/typing :P.
