regardless of your graphics card, your cpu's gonna be holding you back

let's put it this way, you have a 2.6 p4

i have a 3.6p4, and i score about a 2600 in pcmark

a 2.4ghz core2duo cpu scores around a 4000, or over. Processors have come a long way since our pentium 4's. The graphics card is only part of the equation

so it is my cpu that is holding me back.im runnin on a 478 board.any other processors better than mine other than c2d??
Well the Core 2 Duo is a different socket. The best you can get is another Pentium 4, with a speed of 3.0Ghz or a bit higher.

Yeah, Also, AGP is outdated now, but there are still some cards that you can get that will be Ok with todays standards.

I don't think that his CPU is really holding him back that much, I can play FEAR on high with my CPU, but I think that my graphics card may be helping a little there.

will i be able to play most games in full max with 7600gs ddr3?if im only using my cpu for gaming there won't be any problem right?

With a X850 pro, you can't enable 8x AA though. :P Definitely Kornowski, your cpu is your bottleneck.

Yeah, I don't have the AA on full, I have it on x2. Any higher and it turns the soft shadows off for some reason, and it looks rubbish so I leave it at x2.

Yeah, it's a good job I'm getting an XFX 7900GS and E6300 :P

I wouldn't say max, no, I'd say mid, around medium.
