Hello. I've been having recent problems with my graphics. When i went to turn on my computer, nothing showed up on the monitor. I hooked the monitor up to another computer and it worked fine. I thought it was my video card since everything else worked fine, so i tried putting in another card but still nothing showed up on the monitor. Is my agp slot dead?

I would say that the AGP slot is dead, do you have a PCI video card or onboard that you can try?

Well thats why i asked if PCI cards or the onboard work, if it does then its probably the AGP slot, if it doesnt then something is wrong with the motherboard.

Ahh, no, slots do die.. I saw it happen on a Brisq system whichi is unix, but still had pci slots. And my Duron 800 had 3 out of 5 pci slots dead, maybe since I built it years ago. I know I had problems getting a modem to work, actually never did, used an external modem and it was my sons computer so that was that. Now years later, I have moved cards around in it and discovered 3 non working pci slots, so don't rule out a bad slot.

That is a very very rare case if the slots are actully dead.

That's what I was about to say. I'm sure slots can die, but it's not often at all. I mean slots are basically wired to the chipset, correct? For one to die, there either needs to be a break in the foil runs or something go wrong with the chipset. In the case of the chipset, it'd probably be more than a port to die...

Oh well... Try removing stuff too. Run with the bare minimum and see if you get anything out of the machine. Also, does anything happen when you switch it on? I mean without the card you SHOULD get the no video beep, but many machines would still try and boot. If not, you should be able to use the caps/num/scroll lock keys and see if the lights come on/off...

I ran it with the bare minimum and nothing still showed up on the monitor. When i switch it on, the fans spin and thats pretty much all that happens from what i can tell.

I tried that but nothing happened. I put in a request for tech support at ECS, since the motherboard is probably dead, which should solve my problem. Thanks for everyones help
