the AGP controller is built into the motherboard (main logic board) of your laptop. So the device may need drivers if windows doesn't already have one to use.
From my knowledge laptops are not upgradeable as far as video cards go. At one point one company did make a pcmcia PCI card slot adapter for laptops but the card and the enclosure was like 700 dollars, so no one ever bought it. Or it could have just been a joke I don't even remember.
