I want a card that supports vista aero effects and has a DVI output, under 40 dollars, Ive found a 1650x pro pci express card for 35, so It should be out there, but I cant find it.

Compiz uses OpenGL for graphics acceleration, and that card is OGL compliant, so I don't really foresee any issues, but I'm not really a graphics expert.

Anyone else have any input?

dont get the x1600

ATI support on linux, specifically for the x1000 series is not very good.

I have had problems in the past with x1950s

If you want to use linux with this card then stay away from ati. Nvidia's drivers for linux are much better then ati's. Just my $.02.

the fact he says "Do you think this card will support compiz 3d graphics?" implies that yes, he will be using it for linux

compiz = linux's version of aero

Thanks so much everyone. I already know first hand ati support sucks in linux. I have to disable compiz in order for video to play well, Its one or the other, I cant have both.
