AGP x8 ?!

I have an ATI graphics card (sapphire 9600 atlantis)
that would support AGP x8, so would my mb (Asus A7n8x deluxe), but at the smartgard options it always shows agp is off, and i cannot turn it on, after a reboot (prog wants to test the settings) its back at off.....

similar problem with fast write...but i cant set anything there

1. smartguard sounds vaguely familiar, what is it supposed to do again?
2. You need to enable the various features in the BIOS
3. I suspect that its just the program misreading things?

the settings are enabled, smartgard is supposed to optimize the graphics card settings...weird program.

but i am not that sure that smartgard is misreading...i can only enadble/disable these settings in bios, where else could i check them/turn them on?
