hey people , well this is the problem . I recently made my own custom built computer . But every so often it turns off and makes a low sound then a high pitched sound like a siren , iz coming from the speaker in the case. I checked all the temps and its fine . i have a psu of 300 watts , tis is whats hooked up:

Radion 9800 pro ( reqeres connection the psu)
1 40 gig hardrive
1 100 gig hardrive
1 pci wirless card
MotherBoard
Cpu:Amd Atlon XP 2500+
768 megs of ram
2 case fans
1 dvd drive
1 CD-RW drive

lol now dat i think bout it it sounds like a lot but what do you think ? iz it prob my psu?

The minimum psu they recommend is 300 watts which you have but looking at you system specs you couldnt use a bit more I would think.

Check PSU101 in the forum http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=10764

If the PSU came with your case it will more than likely be a budget power supply, what you need to do though is list the PSU model and a link to the full spec so people can have a better look at it and give you more advice

ok well im at school but ill say what i know off hand . Its A geniric brand psu that has been running fine for 3 years.ill give more specs when i get home. And it is a custom built computer.

Yeah id replace the PSU regardless of whether thats the problem or not. I wouldnt want my Radeon9800Pro powered by that thing. As for the siren sound ... have a monitoring program track voltages and temps and you can isolate the problem that way hopefully :)
