Hi, i need some help with my monitor.

I just got parts to build my computer last week. I put everything together
correctly without any problems.
When i plug everything in the back, i turn on my computer and to my surprise nothing shows up on the monitor.
I thought it was my video card, so i exchange it and got a new one. But i still have the same problem.

Can some please give me some ideas for fixing this problem?

thank you

system specs would be helpful.

more info also like does the motherboard power up. is the computer running or is nothing at all happening. do you get a beep from the motherboard.

Yes, the motherboard powers up. Also the computer is workin. I can see the light turn on and everything. My fans for the computer works, also the front LED lights. I do not hear any beep coming from the motherboard.

My specs for my computer are:

1. Aspire X-Dreamer II(Black) ATX Mid-Tower Case with 350W Power
Supply
2. ASUS "A7N8X-E Deluxe" nForce2 Ultra 400 Chipset Motherboard for
AMDSocket A CPU
3. CHAINTECH nVIDIA GeForce FX5500 Video Card, 256MB DDR,
DVI/TV-Out,
8X AGP
4. AMD Athlon XP 2500+ "Barton", 55W 333 FSB, 512K Cache Processor - OEM
5. "2" Kingston 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200
6. Western Digital 200GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive, Model WD2000JB,
OEM Drive Only
7. TR2TT (Designed by Thermaltake) TR2 M4 CPU Cooler for Socket
A/ 370

Hmm...

That's strange. It could be that the AGP slot is dead or that the monitor does not recognize the input. Have you tried a different monitor? I have personally come across the exact same problem and it involved using an AGP 2x card in an AGP 4x/8x slot which was not backward compatible. As a result it powered on, all lights on and so on...but no monitor output. That's not your case though.

JAN :D

Yes, i tried it with a different monitor, it didnt work either. I have 2 monitors, one is LCD 19" one and the other one is a flat screen regular monitor. Both monitor did not work. I still cannot get anything to show up on my monitor when i power up my computer.

i know ihave a 4x agp slot. If i get an nvidia geforce 6600 will that be able to run in a 4x slot?

Yes.

You plugged the monitor to the slot of the gfx card right? Not the slot on the mobo.. I did that before.

Does the graphics card require power to it? Seems elementary, but you never know!

I too had difficulty...mine with a 128 mb fx 5200 and after the company sent me 3 replacements...I figured out the AGP slot was dead.

I replaced the mobo (under RMA) and it works like a charm.

I am currently running an AGP 8x in an AGP 4x slot on another computer. Seems ok... I did check to make sure the voltage matched first.

ryku, can you tell at all if your video card is working when you turn on the system. Like some cards have a little fan, or maybe a light that would tell you the card is getting power and at least working. Also make sure the card is fully inserted into the slot, and sometimes theres a peice at the end you have to lock in place.

never mind, I looked at the card and there is no power connection other than the fan on the card itself....
