AHHHH what is wrong with this stupid router!

I dont know how to describe this problem but my router keeps going screwy! I will be using the internet, and suddenly there will be an explanation mark on the wifi signal in the bottom right of the screen, then when I look at the router most of the lights are off, and then it seems to be restarting itself. Sometimes it comes back again after a minute, sometimes it won't come back until I reset it.

Whats even more strange is it seems to happen at certain moments, such as when a new computer connects, or I start a certain software on my computer. It also seems to happen more often when Im playing online games.

Any suggestions???

The router is a Huawei HG521
All computers connecting at windows 7
 
Try upgrading the firmware on it if there is one available. Contact your internet provider to see if they can help you determine what is wrong with it and get it replaced if its bad.
 
Ok, how can I upgrade the firmware? To be honest I didn't even change the password on it I was too lazy. Just plugged it in and used the password written on the back of it to connect.
 
So you just started using this router? Or has it always been like this? There isn't much help we can offer you besides try a different router. Is it a modem as well or just a router?
 
Actually there could also be one other problem. When the router came I only had a bare wire coming from the wall (no adsl jack). I wasnt sure what to do so I just cut an old adsl wire and taped the red to the red and the black to the black. It seems to work fine but if I move it, it has the exact same problem as when it randomly goes off, except the random times I am not touching or moving the router in any way at all. Could this be related? If anyone knows of a good online guide to wire the adsl jack correctly please link me to it!

Err, whats the difference between a modem and a router? haha. I think its just a router. It connects to my incoming phone line and sends the stuff to my computer via wifi.

I've been using it for about a month like this, but especially the last few days its really been annoying me.
 
Its actually a modem and router in one. But not a very good one. Contact your internet provider for support. You most likely need a new one.
