I ordered DRIV3R from amazon.co.uk bargain-price at 5 quid NEW! it came yesterday and I thought I'll backup it with Alcohol 120%, but when I opened Alc120% and pressed Image Making Wizard and then selected which drive the game is in it didn't show me the list of protections that it usually shows with CD games (because DRIV3R is on DVD) what can I do?
Is there another app that can backup DVD games with the SecuROM v5 protection?

Your not allowed to make a copy of any game for any reason, it says it in the "terms and conditions". The copy protection stuff is there for a reason :)

So I can play with the backup and not scrach my original disk...
Just take care of the disc, use a cd case and it will be fine. I have cd's that have been thrown on the ground and are covered with scratched and work perfectly still.

I just found a great app that created an exact buckup for DRIV3R great app, called BlindWrite 5 and for you own information I'm not doing any illegal actions, purely backuping by OWN original games for my self.

which is illegal, lol

No no no, it would have been illegal if I copied it and sold it or gave the copies to others for free, or shared it on eMule... But copying a game that I bought which i have a lisence for - for my self then that is certainly NOT illegal.

If its anything like DVD's, then no its not illegal to back them up. BUT its illegal to break the copy-protection ;)

Even DVD films have Macrovision CSS copy protection, but anyway if you own the original you can copy it for yourself, otherwise Alcohol 120% BlindWrite and other apps wouldnt exist...

in my opinion it is his right as a consumer to make a backup copy of his disc. of course, thats not their opinion and thats why they put copy protection on the disc. either way, alcohol 120% is a good program for backing up alll types of cds and dvds for any number of reasons, in case you lose the original copy, in case you scratch the original disc, anything.

I agree.

P.S. I found another app called BlindWrite which is probably better than Alcohol 120% it copies games Alc 120% can't.
