Today i tryed to install Alcohol 120% onto a mates laptop (windows vista)is is a burning program that lets you have a virtual drive which you can CD or DVD run images throught. I tryed istalling it and then this blue screen came up:

Everytime you restart the computer it goes normal for about 30 secs - 1 min and the the blue screen comes back up, and before you know it it's restarted again.

thats why they call it bsod you need to reformat or try restarting in safe mode and removing it

Still happens in safemode. Is there any other option apart from rebooting becaause the computer has powerful enginering expensive software that has had it's key activated over the internet and can't be reinstalled

i really dont think there is any option do you still have the key? i think if you call microsoft they will give you another or that key might still work

Was this a legal version of Alcohol 120% as there should be no problems at all with Alcohol 120 on Vista.
The only other way this could have happened is if you installed an old version that was not compatible with Vista
Have you asked atthe Alcohol Soft support forum as I am sure tey will help you, its probably an SPTD problem.

similar thing happened to my laptop

I just nearly tried everything but then as far as i remember i pressed the f11 or f7 key which popped up the recover the laptop data smthiin menu.. i followed the ongoing steps and my laptop recovered within minutes

i just hope ur friend has not deleted the recovery partition on the laptop else you would require the recovery discs.

All virtual 'cd drives' install 'virtual drives' There is a problem with the driver. I had a similiar thing using the freeware Magic Disk. I then switched to 120% and i'm all good now. A reinstall will most likely not fix it. Just look for other virtual drives. There's a whole mess of em out there.
