Alienware Laptop graphics card issue

I need some advice for a friend.

He has a nice Alienware laptop but the graphics card fan has stopped working. So...as we all know the card overheats.

The warranty of course has expired, he bought it in 2006.

What options do we have for fixing it?

I realize of course parts are for custom makes and models, nothing straight off the shelf will really help.

Got any ideas?
 
well you could buy an aftermarket vga cooler. what card is it? if that doesnt work he will have to get a new one or do soldering and modding which is not worth it.
 
Look for another card/fan on ebay. Just pull the card and look for a model number, and plug it into the ebay search.

I am actually waiting on his wife to send the make and model information. She has it right now back in Germany. He is of course here in Afghanistan.

ebay is a good idea, might look into that.
