I have a gaming tower now and im looking to get a laptop for the mobility, But I still plan to play games and I want to keep the performance. Im looking at a second hand alienware laptop right now, But i have some concerns with its gaming capabilities due to the processor and video card's. I know alienware's one of the best PC laptop companies out there but im really looking for info on the specific parts of the computer. I know a bit about computers but not quite enough to make a decision without consulting some people first. Im just going to talk about the basics that I know and what concerns me so here it is.
Current Desktop:
Intel core 2 quad Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
4GB DDR2
Motherboard: Evga - nforce 750i SLI
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT
Seagate 500 GB @7200RPM
Laptop:
Intel i7 M620 @ 2.67GHz (But only Dual core not quad...)
4GB DDR3
500GB SATA 4200 rpm
CrossFire (HD 4870x2)

My main concern is the Processor.
Mine right now @2.4Ghz x 4 cores VS 2.67 x 2 cores
Both have 4 threads the i7 dual core can be "Turboed" at 3.3. But Im wondering if this is going to hinder my FPS and games and lag. My processor now has 4 cores but is much older then the i7 Im wondering if the i7 packs a "punch" to keep up with or even beat the Q6600, Any info on this is appreciated...
Second Is the Video Card.
It's dual ATI Radeon - HD 4870's. This Crossfire setup is a very good setup for gaming, it will defiantly work, but theres a catch. There older, And only run Direct X 10.1 Which im worried about because most games now are coming out in Direct X 11. Should I buy this even though it still runs Dx 10? Or should I stay away from it and get new.
I can get the laptop Friday for $1000 CAN. Which I think is a pretty good deal considering it would probably cost 2000-3000 new and its only 5-6 months old. Any info appreciated, I know a bit about computers but obviously not a alot so bare with me please! Thanks
