Alienware M18x: opinions?

So I'm looking into getting a kick ass gaming laptop after having a shitty ass one for the past 5 years that doesnt have the video rendering capability to smoothly stream netflix. What is the general consensus on the M18x? Given that it is in its initial release model, is it better to go with the tried and true M17x R3, or is the M18x just an oversized version of that computer? And will there be an M18x R2?

If I wanted a laptop that could run BF3 on max, what brand would you recommend then if alienware is overpriced?
