All 6600GT's equal?

It's time for a new graphics card and I would like to get a 6600GT or maybe a 6800. The question is are all 6600GT's created equal? Do they all have the same number of pipelines? Are there any better brands than others? Is there an equal ATI card to consider?
This will be an AGP card till new computer build next summer.
Would I notice a significant difference using my exsisting FX5700LE and upping my RAM from 512 to 1gig?

For the most part they are all the same, except some companies overclock there and sell it as such for a little more money. You would notice a huge difference with a new video card, and a big difference from the ram also.

Actually I read the 101 before posting my 5 questions and still had confusion.
Lots of great info on the 101, perhaps I'm just not getting the overall picture right?

Hehe i updated it after i read your question (see the VFAQ, last question or so) :P Essentially, there isnt a world of difference. Specific to the 6600GT, i would try to avoid cards using round-coolers as there is a semi well known issue of wobbly-heatsinks rersulting in higher temps :)

Just stick with a top name brand, the only difference would be if they have the same chip and amount of memory is the guality of the memory chips and the card itself

1. And the type of cooler used
2. "The card itself" ... that kinda is the point of the original question aint it? ;)

What I meant about the card itself was that a cheaper card probably will have all cheaper transistors on the whole card, China-Taiwan made

Aren't all the cards made ofshore?
Praetor what do you think of the aftermarket Arctic cooling HSF for the vid crds?
Thanks for postiong the listing of 6800 cards from best to worst, explains a lot and I assume the same is true for the 6600 series cards and their designations?

you know that the transystors used on the cards are mainly all the same?
you cant buy bad transystors anymore.. same with IC's, Capasitors and so on.
because the manufacturer would go bankrupt in no time when selling bad components

and yes, you can put the 6600 cards in the order :)
