I like maxtor drives personally, but of the two you picked out, I'd say Seagate, but I think either would be fine. If you're going to play any games, I'd suggest against the x1300, it doesn't give most ofd its stats, and the one it does give (pixel pipelines) is horrid. The x800xl will game better than the 6600gt, but either of those setups would probably be fine, just depends on your preference, I would personally go for the x800xl (I've got a non-AIW one actually and I'm getting 11k+ 3DMark03 so it's decent).

Again, i have to agree. the X800XL may not have a TV-Tuner, but it is a much better card... TV-Tuners can be added seperately later.

The 7800GT will be a much better buy for that price than the x800XL..

If thats "almost final" spec then
1. What are the makes and models of everything
2. How much ram do you want?
3. Whats the budget
4. What are u using the machine for

nvidia > ATI a 6800gs will do you fine.
Easy on the fanboyism. it annoys admins.

I did not include the case and the operation system.
One of the reviews said that Windows XP MCE does not support dual core. If this is true, you cannot use it with the Pentium D.
I only went with the Pentium D because the other people were. Tell us exactly what you'll be doing with this computer. Then we can make another list made specifically to your requirements.

that one would come out to be way more than mine after you add some other stuff i want

i want 2 drives and dosent say that that card supports dual core, but it has the 775 socket

and i dont really plan to do any overclocking so i heard i really dont need any dfi

What do you mean by "doesn't say that that card supports dual core"? The motherboard?
What stuff do you want, specify and then I can make a more accurate list. How am I supposed to make a list without knowing what you want? 775 Socket is the socket for the Pentium D, so what are you trying to say?

on newegg it isnt under support pentium d im just going by that and it dosent say it supports dual core tech but i do know its the right socket

it will start to get a little pricey if i go with too much more how easy is it to make the 800 a 850 for the videocard
i will probably stick with the 2.8ghz and the asus mobo

and get the ocz ram and just xp home and add a tv tuner

As nice as that system is, it wont boot :)

What do you mean by "doesn't say that that card supports dual core"? The motherboard?
Meaning 915P doesnt support PentiumD. Common mistake :)

Windows Media Center edition, who has used it and do all the functions work properly on it and is it easy to install because ive been hearing mixed things, i heard you need certain stuff for it to work and blah blah

is this 6800gs a good one its is overclocked form the factory

i dont know what is a good tv tuner but this one was fairly cheap and ATI makes good cards, if i figure out if MCE is a good OS i want the one i ahve but ive heard the software sucks on it if you dont have MCE to us their software
